The New Reality for The Strokes

Following up to the success of their 2020 album The New Abnormal, The Strokes are finding themselves in a new reality…one full of wonky auto tune?

To be fair, IMO it doesn’t sound that bad. I had to listen through a couple times then a couple more times for the ones that grew quicker to me.

Falling Out of Love is actually a beautiful song and the autotune adds to it. Same goes for Lonely in the Future. In a way, Julian Casablancas is using it as a compression/distortion similar to the lo-fi effects used on the earlier records.

Full discrepancy, I really appreciate Julian’s work with The Voidz so I am partial to that “experimental” sound.
